The New York Times’ latest puzzle game, Connections, challenges you to categorize a set of 16 words into four secret groups by finding connections among them. Each new puzzle drops at midnight and brings a fresh level of difficulty. Like Wordle, you can track your streak and compare scores with friends.
How to Play Connections
In Connections, you’re given a grid of 16 words. Your goal? Sort them into four categories based on what links them together. These links could be anything from video game titles to different shades of red or types of chain restaurants. Some words may look like they belong in multiple groups, but only one combination is correct. You can shuffle the grid to help see new connections.
Each of the four groups is color-coded for difficulty:
- Yellow – Easiest group
- Green – Next in difficulty
- Blue – A bit trickier
- Purple – Most challenging
To play, select four words you think belong together and press “Submit.” If you’re correct, those words are removed from the grid and the connection is revealed. Guess incorrectly, and you’ll receive an error. You only have four chances, so make each one count!
