The New York Times’ Connections game is one of their most engaging puzzle experiences! In Connections, you’re given a grid of 16 words, and your task is to sort them into four hidden groups by identifying the relationships between them. Each night at midnight, a new puzzle is released with varying difficulty levels. Like Wordle, Connections lets you track your streaks and even compare scores with friends.

How to play NYT Connections
To play Connections, visit the New York Times website or use the NYT Games app, available on iOS or Android.
In Connections, you’ll see a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to organize these words into four sets of four by identifying a unique theme for each set. Themes might include topics like video game titles, book series sequels, shades of red, or chain restaurant names.
Some words can seem to fit more than one theme, adding to the challenge, but there’s only one correct answer. You can rearrange the words in the grid to help spot potential connections.
Each group is color-coded by difficulty: the yellow group is typically the easiest, then green, blue, and purple, which can be the trickiest.
To submit a group, select four words and press “Submit.” If correct, the words will be removed, and the theme will be revealed. If incorrect, you’ll receive a mistake—each puzzle allows only four mistakes before it’s game over.
