Nvidia rumored to launch whole range of next-gen GPUs by March 2025

There might be something unusual happening with Nvidia’s upcoming graphics cards, as rumors suggest that we could see a bunch of new Blackwell models soon—specifically the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060.

Originally, the buzz around Blackwell focused mainly on the flagship models, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. But now, the RTX 5070 has joined the conversation, with expectations that it will be unveiled at CES alongside the other next-gen GPUs.

Recently, a Chinese source known as Board Channels (which isn’t always reliable, so take this with a grain of salt) hinted that Nvidia plans to launch the RTX 5060 early in 2025. According to these rumors, Nvidia aims to release the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 in January, likely shortly after they’re announced. Then, in February, the RTX 5070 will follow, possibly accompanied by an RTX 5070 Ti. Finally, in March, we might see the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti hit store shelves. If this all pans out, we could see the core Blackwell lineup fully available by the end of March 2025.

What’s Going On Here?

So, what’s the deal with these graphics cards? It’s odd that after all the focus on the RTX 5090 and 5080, the RTX 5070 seems to appear out of nowhere, and now there’s talk of the RTX 5060 too.

Regarding the RTX 5070, there’s speculation it will come with 12GB of VRAM, which some have criticized for not being very future-proof. However, there are also whispers about a version with 18GB of video memory. Could this be the rumored RTX 5070 Ti? That theory fits somewhat, but what about the RTX 5060? We’ve heard almost nothing about this desktop GPU. It’s worth noting that the RTX 4060 took quite a while to come out after the RTX 4090—about eight months, to be specific. So, seeing the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070, and 5060, plus their Ti variants, all launched in just three months seems pretty unlikely.

Why would Nvidia choose to release all these cards in such a short time? It’s hard to find a logical explanation, unless they’re trying to compete with AMD’s RDNA 4 mid-range cards, which are expected around the same time in early 2025. But honestly, we need more than just this flimsy rumor from a Chinese forum to believe that.

If the RTX 5060 is indeed close to release, why haven’t we heard anything about it until now? The only mention we’ve seen is about the mobile version of the 5060, which raises another possibility: could there be some confusion between desktop and laptop releases? There are rumors that Nvidia will reveal mobile Blackwell GPUs at CES 2025, making it more believable that a full range of gaming laptop graphics cards could be announced together.

It seems unlikely that the source would mix these up, but for now, we’re left scratching our heads about the latest rumors and will have to wait for more information to clarify whether Nvidia really plans to launch the RTX 5060 sooner than expected.
