Have you ever been on a road trip with friends and wished everyone could pitch in to build the perfect playlist? Well, Spotify has your back with a fantastic feature that lets multiple people contribute to a collaborative playlist! This means no more fighting over the AUX cord—everyone can add their favorite tracks and help set the vibe for your journey.
How to Create a Collaborative Playlist on Spotify
Creating a collaborative playlist is a breeze, whether you’re using the desktop or mobile app. You can either make an existing playlist collaborative or start a new one, then share the link with your friends so they can join in on the fun. Plus, both Spotify Free and Premium users can enjoy this feature, although Premium subscribers do get some added perks like ad-free listening and unlimited skips.
Creating a Collaborative Playlist on the Desktop App
- Choose Your Playlist: Open the Spotify desktop app and find the playlist you want to make collaborative. Right-click on it in the left panel.
- Invite Collaborators: Select “Invite Collaborators.” This action will copy a link to your clipboard.
- Share the Link: Send this link to your friends via text, social media, or any method you prefer.
- Make a New Playlist: If you want to create a new playlist instead, click the Add User (head and shoulders) icon to make it collaborative. This will also provide you with a link to share.
- Manage Collaborators: If you need to remove someone from the playlist, just click their name under the playlist title, hit the three dots next to their name, and select “Remove as collaborator.”
Creating a Collaborative Playlist on the Mobile App
The process is similar on the mobile app, with just a few small tweaks:
- Open Your Library: Launch the Spotify app on your mobile device and select “Your Library.”
- Select Your Playlist: Tap on “Playlists” and choose the playlist you want to make collaborative. Remember, you need to be the creator to do this.
- Add Collaborators: Tap the Add User (head and shoulders) icon located under the playlist name.
- Share the Invitation: You’ll have several options to invite collaborators, including copying a link or sharing through available social media platforms.
- Remove Collaborators: If you need to take someone off the list, tap their profile picture, hit the three dots next to their name, and select “Remove as collaborator.”
Why Collaborative Playlists Rock
The beauty of collaborative playlists is that you can share whatever you love! Whether it’s the latest podcasts, fresh tunes, or hilarious stand-up comedy, it’s all in your hands. So gather your friends, start curating those playlists, and enjoy the music together. And if you ever want to take a break from Spotify, remember that you can cancel your account anytime you want!
