NYT Connections: hints and answers for Friday, October 25

The New York Times has launched a new puzzle game called Connections, which challenges you to sort a set of 16 words into four hidden categories by identifying how they’re related. Each night at midnight, a new puzzle appears with varying difficulty levels, and just like Wordle, you can track your streak and share scores with friends.

Some days are tougher than others! If today’s Connections puzzle has you stumped, check out our hints and tips below. And if you still need a hand, you’ll find today’s answers at the end.

How to Play NYT Connections

In Connections, you’ll see a 4×4 grid of 16 words and aim to organize them into four sets based on related themes. These connections could range from video game franchises to book sequels, colors, or chain restaurants.

While some words might seem to belong to more than one group, only one combination is fully correct. You can shuffle the grid to get a fresh look at potential matches. Each set is color-coded by difficulty, with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple.

To play, select four words and hit “Submit.” If correct, those words are removed from the grid, and the group’s theme will appear. If you’re wrong, it counts as a mistake, and you only get four chances before the game ends.
