Connections is a fun and challenging new puzzle game from the New York Times that tests your ability to spot patterns and relationships between words. In each game, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words, and your job is to group them into four categories based on how they’re connected. The twist? The connections are secret at first, and you’ll have to figure them out as you play!
How to Play NYT Connections
When you start the game, you’ll see a grid of 16 words. Your mission is to identify the four groups, with each group consisting of four words that share something in common. These connections could be anything, from movie titles to food items, from colors to famous landmarks. You might have to think creatively to spot the link between words!
There’s only one correct way to group the words, but some words may seem like they fit multiple categories. You can shuffle the grid or rearrange words to help see the connections more clearly.
Each correct group is color-coded based on difficulty:
- Yellow is the easiest group to find.
- Green is a bit trickier.
- Blue is even more challenging.
- Purple is usually the hardest group to identify.
Pick four words you believe are connected, then hit the “Submit” button. If you’re correct, those four words are removed from the grid, and the connection between them will be revealed. Be careful, though — if you guess wrong, it counts as a mistake, and you only get four chances before the game ends.
