Created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, You is an American psychological thriller television series produced by Berlanti Productions, Alloy Entertainment, and A+E Studios in collaboration with Warner Horizon Television, which is now Warner Bros. Television. The show is based on the books by Caroline Kepnes.
Netflix has officially announced that You season 5 will be the last one, which is unfortunate news.
After the unexpected conclusion to the fourth season, which altered the course of the program, we most definitely needed a fifth season.
You season four was released on Netflix in two parts. The first gave viewers a more typical whodunit narrative and portrayed Joe Goldberg in a redeeming light, while the second gave an incredible turn that permanently altered our protagonist, the serial murderer.
Ever since the previous season of You debuted, the fans of the show were curious enough to do their own research about the next season their favorite show. If you belong to the same, then here we are to provide you with all the details we know about the next season.
You Season 5: Cast
At the moment, we do not have the necessary information about the cast of the upcoming season. However, let’s recall the cast of the previous season of You.
- Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg / Will Bettelheim / Jonathan Moore
- Charlotte Ritchie as Katherine “Kate” Galvin-Lockwood
- Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe Borehall-Blaxworth
- Amy-Leigh Hickman as Nadia Farran
- Ed Speleers as Rhys Montrose
- Lukas Gage as Adam Pratt
Furthermore, it is possible that there could be an addition to the above mentioned cast of the series.
You Season 5: Plot
The plot of season four was mostly self-contained and came to a satisfactory end.
Every character has a known fate (many ended up underground or in prison), and there aren’t many remaining narrative points to pick at (well, not including the lingering mystery of whether Jenna Ortega’s Ellie will ever appear again).
Regarding Joe Goldberg, the implication is that he has now confronted and accepted his worst sides. Furthermore, he can now advance his own privilege and keep shielding himself from any repercussions by using the wealth and influence that his girlfriend Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) possesses.
The fourth season finale of You set the stage for a more sinister Joe heading into the fifth, one who is sick of trying to use monologues to rationalize his heinous deeds. We’ll have to wait and see how that fits into his new glamorous life with Kate.
It’s also impossible to ignore the reality that, as Joe himself admits, everyone he loves ultimately dies, so things aren’t exactly looking good for Kate.
Additionally, Gamble disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that Joe would likely face some sort of repercussion, and that this is how You should, in theory, come to an end.
You Season 5: Release Date
As previously stated, Netflix has formally announced that Joe and his monotonous narration would return for the show’s fifth and final season. However, a release date has not yet been set.
You Season 5: Official Trailer
During their TUDUM event in Brazil earlier this year, Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming season of You.
The teaser suggested that a lot of characters may come back for the popular thriller’s climactic episode, in which Joe and his fiancée Kate would make a perilous trip back to New York.
“We all know there are many loose ends from Joe’s past… the question is: who are you?” In the filmed footage, the actor poses the question.
