William Shatner open to returning as Captain Kirk in ‘Star Trek’
William Shatner, well known for playing Captain Kirk in the ‘Star Trek’ franchise, has stated that he would be open to returning to the famous science fiction series if an excellent storyline was provided.
In a recent interview, Shatner, who is currently 93 years old, discussed his chances of playing Captain Kirk again while promoting his new documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill.”
He highlighted the significance of a compelling storyline, saying, “If there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.”
Shatner’s final appearance as Captain Kirk was in the 1994 movie ‘Star Trek Generations,’ where the character died. However, the actor hinted at possible causes for his comeback, such as technological developments that may rejuvenate his appearance.
According to reports, Shatner raised the concept of playing a younger Captain Kirk through advanced CGI technology. The actor even speculated on how Captain Kirk may be resurrected, suggesting a story in which his body and brain are frozen for future revival. Shatner jokingly imagined a scenario in which Captain Kirk’s brain is preserved, leading to his future comeback to the franchise.
Fans of the franchise are excited at Shatner’s openness to consider the concept of a possible return to “Star Trek,” even though it is still theoretical.
