Cat Jarman, the new partner of Charles Spencer, has taken legal action against his ex-wife, Countess Karen Spencer, accusing her of misusing private information. The lawsuit, filed on October 10 according to The Telegraph, remains vague as the specific details have yet to be disclosed.
Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer and younger brother of the late Princess Diana, revealed his separation from Karen in June 2024, People reports. Since then, he has been in a relationship with Dr. Jarman, a 42-year-old Norwegian archaeologist and co-host of the history podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives.
Charles and Karen met through a blind date in Los Angeles back in 2011, leading to their wedding at Althorp, the Spencer family estate. This location is also the resting place of Princess Diana. The couple has one daughter together, 12-year-old Lady Charlotte Diana. Charles also has four children from his previous marriage to Victoria Lockwood, two from his marriage to Caroline Freud, and one with Karen.
In a statement addressing the divorce, Charles expressed his sadness, saying, “It is immensely sad,” while also sharing his intention to focus on his children and grandchildren. He wished Karen happiness moving forward.
Recently, Charles and Jarman have openly confirmed their relationship, putting to rest any rumors. They first crossed paths at Althorp, where Jarman was participating in the excavation of a Roman villa for a documentary. The two now co-host The Rabbit Hole Detectives podcast, which recently inspired a book based on the show.
In August, Jarman posted updates about ongoing archaeological digs at Althorp, hinting at further exciting discoveries to come. Charles praised her team for their professionalism and energy, sharing on Instagram, “Amazing to think of those long-ago folk enjoying Althorp 1,000 or so years before my family first farmed here in the 1480s. This team was assembled by my fellow Rabbit Hole Detective podcaster Cat Jarman, such a professional, upbeat, and utterly charming group.”
Earlier this year, Charles published a memoir titled A Very Private School. He revealed that the emotional strain of writing the book had negatively affected his marriage with Karen. As for the lawsuit involving Cat Jarman, details remain scarce, apart from the accusation that Karen misused private information.
