Where was Ridley season 2 filmed?
Ridley, the popular PBS drama following retired detective Alex Ridley, has returned for its second season, which debuted in September and runs through November 3. The season features several stunning real-life locations, primarily set in the UK township of Bolton, along with surrounding areas.
Ridley season 2 filming locations:
1. Le Mans Crescent, Bolton
Le Mans Crescent serves as a significant backdrop in Season 2, prominently featured in Episode 3. The Victorian-era building and its courtyard host various action scenes, including intense exchanges between Alex Ridley (played by Adrian Dunbar) and other main cast members. Some sequences take place inside the building, which acts as a library set, while others showcase Ridley and his new partner, Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh), in walking-and-talking scenes outside the gallery.
2. Cheapside and Mawdsley Street, Bolton
Another notable location is Cheapside and Mawdsley Street, where the crew filmed exterior scenes. This area was closed to traffic to facilitate driving sequences, showcasing the vibrant atmosphere of Bolton and its surroundings.
3. Derbyshire
The filming also extended to Derbyshire, approximately 90 minutes southwest of Bolton. Key locations included New Mills Marina, Albion Road, and the canal towpath in the High Peak. Location manager Danny Newton highlighted that scenes were shot around a narrowboat in New Mills and along the canal path near Swizzles, as well as on the Hawthorne Industrial Estate and Albion Road.
Ridley Season 2 is now available for streaming on PBS in the U.S.
