The show received a sixth season renewal in May 2023, before the start of the fifth season.

Virgin River Season 5: Plot
At a set visit last year, executive producer and writer Erin Cardillo told Tudum, “What you can expect from Season 5 is a lot of answers to the questions you have been waiting for.” All of these issues—Hope’s recuperation, Doc’s diagnosis, Paige’s predicament, Brie and Brady’s romance—will be handled.
During their time together on set, executive producer and writer Richard Keith made a promise to Tudum: “There are some new characters coming to Virgin River this season that will mix things up a bit.”
“Season 5 is going to continue to stay true to what fans have loved about the show from the beginning; it feels like a community that we all belong to and that we’re all a part of, it’s very comforting, it gives you hope, and I think all of that is stuff that people can’t get enough of these days,” Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head Of Drama, Development, told Deadline in August.
Virgin River Season 5: Is it coming in May 2023?
We’re sorry to have to disappoint our readers, but new episodes won’t be back in May 2023. The new season will be included in Netflix’s fall 2023 season schedule. As great as it is to know that the show won’t be taking a protracted vacation, this will be the first time since the third and fourth seasons that the autumn season debut date has been determined.
