Venom 3: The Last Dance spoilers and full plot summary

Venom: The Last Dance has finally arrived, marking the conclusion of Eddie Brock and Venom’s journey—or at least this chapter of it. The film kicks off right after the events of Eddie’s dismissal from the MCU, with him grappling with the fallout from his encounter with Carnage in Let There Be Carnage. Now, he’s a fugitive, evading both law enforcement and Knull, the ominous King in Black.

Venom 3: The Last Dance spoilers and full plot summary

The film quickly introduces Knull, played by Andy Serkis, who delivers a motion capture performance. We see him shrouded in darkness on his throne, wielding the Necrosword, his formidable weapon. The backstory reveals that the Symbiotes rebelled against Knull and imprisoned him on Klyntar. To escape, he needs a Codex—a creation of Eddie and Venom that he hasn’t found yet. Knull sends his monstrous Xenophages to track down the Codex, which can teleport through portals reminiscent of Doctor Strange’s magic.

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, now in the MCU, ranting about cosmic happenings like a purple alien snapping half the universe away. He’s soon pulled back into his own universe, still in Mexico, where he and Venom discover they’re internationally wanted. They become Lethal Protectors once more, intervening in a dog-fighting ring and violently dispatching its organizers.

The duo plans to head to New York City to blackmail someone who might help clear their names.

The film sets up Area 51 as a decommissioned site, but it turns out there’s an underground facility where Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Rex Strickland and Juno Temple’s Dr. Payne are investigating newly arrived symbiotes that fled Knull. The narrative also reintroduces Detective Mulligan, who was previously seen in Let There Be Carnage, but now has a new symbiote bonded to him that offers exposition about Knull’s search for the Codex.

Eddie and Venom’s first brush with a Xenophage occurs mid-flight, leading to chaos as they crash to the ground. Venom explains that the Codex was created when Eddie died in the first film, and it will only exist as long as they both live. Unfortunately, the hunters can only see the Codex when Venom is fully transformed.

After some tussles with Strickland’s men, Eddie ends up killing one in self-defense. As they navigate the desert, Venom ultimately transforms to save Eddie from drowning, inadvertently alerting the Xenophages to their location.

Eddie meets a road-tripping family, portrayed by Rhys Ifans, who offers him a ride to Area 51. They drop him off in Las Vegas, where he reconnects with Mrs. Chen, played by Peggy Lu, leading to a hilariously awkward dance scene. However, Venom’s full transformation during this moment draws unwanted attention from the Xenophage.

Eddie’s capture by Strickland’s men separates him from Venom, leading to a series of chaotic events.

Eddie wakes up in Area 51 alongside Detective Mulligan, who informs him that Knull is still on the hunt. Strickland is furious and shoots Eddie, but Venom saves him just in time. Chaos ensues as the Xenophage attack the facility, and the newly symbiote-bonded lab workers join the fray. Eddie and the Symbiotes realize that the only way to defeat the Xenophages is for one of them to die, thus destroying the Codex.

In a climactic showdown, Venom leads the Xenophages to acid tanks, activating them to obliterate both the creatures and himself.

In the closing scene, Eddie wanders New York, mourning the loss of Venom, with a poignant nod to their shared journey as he gazes at the Statue of Liberty. The mid-credits scene features Knull in a rant about his desire for revenge, despite lacking his Codex. Finally, the post-credits scene hints at a broken symbiote container, suggesting that another symbiote may still be out there, possibly linked to the bartender.

Venom: The Last Dance weaves a mix of action, humor, and heartfelt moments, culminating in a bittersweet end for Eddie and Venom while teasing potential future stories in the symbiote saga.
