Fans of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible franchise will have to be a little more patient, as the eagerly anticipated eighth instalment faces yet another unexpected delay. A ₹250 crore submarine was encountered while shooting, causing a delay. Additionally, it has increased the film’s budget.

As per Mirror UK, the gimbal tasked with lowering the 120-foot submarine became jammed under its massive weight, needing repairs and temporarily halting production.

According to insiders, the maintenance tasks have pushed back the shooting schedule by several weeks, increasing the already staggering budget. According to the outlet, the budget is currently approaching ₹3,324.88 crore ($400 million).

The source claimed that the production team is angry since each day of delay results in higher costs. Repairs are now underway and are expected to take a few weeks. “They’re not happy as it puts production behind, which costs a lot of money per day,” said a source.

Last year’s Hollywood writers’ strike pushed the production back until July 2023. Filming continued in March this year. Delays have caused the eight part to be released later than scheduled this summer. According to several reports, it may be released in May 2025, but it’s unclear how the most recent setback would affect the movie’s release schedule. The eighth instalment is a direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
