The ultimate scream queen has no Halloween plans because she’s ‘stepping into the darkness.’ EXCUSE me?
Jamie Lee Curtis, renowned as the “Scream Queen” for her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the *Halloween* franchise, has shared that she’s stepping back from the Halloween festivities altogether. In a recent interview, Curtis humorously dismissed any nostalgia for her Halloween films, stating, “No, what kind of life do you think I have?” when asked if she would revisit them.
At 65, Curtis has opted out of decorating her home for Halloween or engaging in traditional activities like trick-or-treating. She remarked that her plans for the holiday are simply “Nothing. Zip,” and noted that her daughters, Ruby (28) and Annie (37), have outgrown the desire for festive decorations. Instead, she quipped about only seeing her neighbor occasionally during the season.
Curtis’s journey with the *Halloween* series began with the original film in 1978, leading to a total of 12 films, with her most recent appearances in the trilogy directed by David Gordon Green (*Halloween*, *Halloween Kills*, and *Halloween Ends*). As she moves on from this defining role, Curtis has expressed her feelings about saying goodbye to Laurie Strode. In a behind-the-scenes clip for *Halloween Ends*, she became emotional, reflecting on the collaborative experience with the cast and crew and how challenging it was to part ways with them.
She declared, “I have retired my pumpkins. I have hung up my butcher knives,” indicating her decision to step away from the franchise for good. Curtis emphasized the importance of allowing Laurie Strode to live on in the hearts of fans while she explores new projects and genres, stating, “I can now get to go off and do my own thing.” While we’re excited for her future endeavors, some fans may be left wishing for more horror from the beloved actress.
