The Last of Us Season 2: Potential cast, plot, release date and what we know

The Last of Us is an HBO post-apocalyptic drama series produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Based on Naughty Dog’s 2013 video game, the series is set twenty years after a pandemic caused by a widespread fungal infection that leads its humans to morph into zombie-like monsters and wrecks civilization. The show revolves around Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler charged with transporting the immune girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic America.

Ever since the previous season debuted, the fans of the show were curious enough to do their own research about the next season of their favorite show. If you belong to the same, then here we are to provide you with all the details we know about the next season of The Last of Us.

The Last of Us Season 2: Cast

As of now, we do not have the exact information regarding the official cast list of the upcoming season. Moreover, we think it is safe to speculate that most of the main characters and series regulars of the show are likely to return for another season. Considering the same, check out the potential cast of the season below:

  • Pedro Pascal as Joel, a hardened middle-aged survivor who is tormented by the trauma of his past. Joel is tasked with smuggling a young girl, Ellie, out of a quarantine zone and across the United States. Joel is more vulnerable in the series—he is hard of hearing in one ear due to a gunshot and his knees ache when he stands.
  • Bella Ramsey as Ellie, a 14-year-old girl who displays much defiance and anger but has a private need for kinship and belonging. She has not lost her playfulness, bonding easily with children, and has a fondness for puns. She is immune to the Cordyceps infection and may be the key to creating a vaccine.

The Last of Us Season 2: Plot

The Last of Us season 2’s premise is unknown, however it most likely draws on the narrative of the video game’s sequel, The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us Part II offers a four-year time jump from the conclusion of the original game and examines the conflicts between Joel and Ellie and a militia group of former Fireflies lead by a character named Abby. We don’t want to give away too much of the narrative to people who haven’t played the game.

The Last of Us Season 2: Release Date

Given that production is scheduled to begin in early 2024, The Last of Us season 2 is most likely to premiere in 2025.
