A prequel spin-off in the John Wick franchise, The Continental: From the World of John Wick (or just The Continental) is a forthcoming American crime thriller television miniseries created by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons. The series will be written and run by Coolidge and Ward. Mel Gibson is expected to star in the first and third episodes, which will be directed by Albert Hughes.
A spin-off series for John Wick was first announced in 2017 with scant supporting details. It’s been over five years since the program was first announced, but only recently have casting and plot specifics begun to emerge. A summary of all we know about The Continental is provided below.
The Continental: Cast
For all that we know, the network is yet to update about the cast of this upcoming series which is why we cannot provide you the exact list of the entire cast members. As per the reports, following is the potential cast of The Continental.
- Colin Woodell as Winston Scott; Woodell portrays the younger version of the character that was portrayed by Ian McShane in the main John Wick films.

The Continental: Plot
The official synopsis of The Continent reads, “The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.”
The Continental: Release Date
The program will debut on Peacock on September 22, 2023. Three 90-minute episodes will make up the miniseries. The show was originally scheduled to debut on the premium cable network Starz, but in August 2022 it was revealed that it will instead air on the NBCUniversal platform.
