Taylor Swift ‘completely overwhelmed’ by response to album ‘Tortured Poets’
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department sold 2.61 million album and streaming units in the United States in its first week of release, according to Billboard, which called it “a gigantic debut at No. 1” on the Billboard 200 albums list. Billboard reported that traditional album sales reached 1.91 million in the week ending April 25th, including digital download albums, CDs, cassettes, and 859,000 vinyl sales, citing Luminate data.
“My mind is blown,” Taylor posted on Sunday on her official X account. She added, “I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed. I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough (white heart emoji).”

The new album also received some criticism. Swifties went so far as to force a magazine to remove their writer’s byline after they posted a bad review. Taylor, on the other hand, seemed unconcerned about the negative feedback, as shown by her note of gratitude on X.
The album had 891.34 million on-demand official streams. According to Billboard, the album had the greatest sales week for a vinyl album in the modern era and the best streaming week for an album ever.
