‘Spider-Man’ producer Amy Pascal admits not knowing who Zendaya was when she auditioned for MJ

Zendaya, a famous Hollywood actress, is occupied with promotions for her next movie, Challengers. On April 26, Luca Guadagnino’s sports drama will be released. Furthermore, Zendaya is doing all in her power to win over the audience’s hearts. The actress is famous for playing MJ in the Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Amy Pascal, the producer of Spider-Man, was unaware of Zendaya’s accomplishments.

Pascal revealed to Vogue magazine for its Zendaya cover story, “To be honest with you, neither Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios president) nor I knew who she was (when the actress initially auditioned for the role in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming).”

She also stated, “She was wearing no makeup and she was just dressed like a regular girl, and we were like, ‘Oh my God, she’s amazing. She has to be in the movie.’ And then we found out she was a totally famous person, and felt really stupid.”

It’s interesting to note that Feige and Pascal, who were not initially aware of Zendaya’s accomplishments, went on to produce all three of her Spider-Man films, in which she co-starred with her partner Tom Holland. For those who don’t know, Zendaya and Holland appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

In the meantime, Zendaya, the 27-year-old Euphoria star will soon be seen in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers portraying Tashi. Along with Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist also feature in the movie.
