Coachella’s first weekend promised surprises and delivered them, particularly Shakira’s unplanned announcement during Bizarrap’s evening set on Friday.
Coachella gig on the first day of the desert festival turned into the highlight of the night when the Hips Don’t Lie singer joined him on stage.
Wearing a fiery red-orange outfit, Shakira made a quiet appearance behind Bizarrap. She performed their hits, La Fuerte and Bzrp Sessions, Vol. 53, before surprising everyone with the announcement of her upcoming tour.
The Sahara Stage became silent for a brief period of time as Shakira addressed the crowd in both Spanish and English, revealing the importance of the message “La loba se viene” (the wolf is coming), which she had hinted at earlier in the day on Instagram. She also announced her next tour.
The text “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” flashed on the screen behind the stage as she announced her first musical tour in more than five years.
“Finally we’re going on tour — starting here, in November!” the songstress shouted. “Starting here, this November, in this city! Can’t wait!”
Released on March 22, Shakira’s eponymous album—her first since 2017—features joint tracks with Cardi B, Rauw Alejandro, Tiesto and other artists.
