Selena Gomez Announces Official Title for New ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Series

Selena Gomez made a splash at the Disney Upfront event in New York City, where she revealed fascinating new details about the popular series Wizards of Waverly Place.

Gomez, who played Alex Russo on the beloved program, has confirmed that the reboot/sequel series would be named Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Along with her co-actor David Henrie, who portrayed her on-screen brother Justin Russo, she will serve as executive producer and make a comeback to the screen in a guest star role as Alex.

In the new series, Justin Russo, now an adult, has decided to lead a regular, mortal life with his family. But when his sister Alex brings Billie, a wizard-in-training, to their house in need of assistance, Justin must dust off his magical skills to guide Billie while balancing his daily duties and protecting the Wizard World’s future.

Selena Gomez will executive produce as well as guest star in the first episode as Alex Russo, while David Henrie will return to his role as Justin Russo as a series regular.

The cast includes Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Mimi Gianopulos as Justin’s wife Giada Russo, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, and Max Matenko as Milo Russo. In addition, newbie Taylor Cora will portray Winter, Billie’s best friend, as a series regular.
