Samsung’s AI Appliance Strategy: Regional Adaptation and Global Expansion

Samsung Electronics recently conducted ‘The Brief,’ a series of seminars on AI-powered home appliances across five key regions: the United States, Europe, Latin America, Southwest Asia, and Southeast Asia. The initiative aimed to showcase how Samsung’s AI technology in home appliances is tailored to regional lifestyles and consumer preferences.

Regional Showcases of AI Technology

In each of the five regions, Samsung emphasized different applications of its AI technologies: kitchen-centric AI solutions in North America, energy-efficient built-in appliances in Europe, SmartThings-connected homes in Latin America, climate and family-focused appliances in Southwest Asia, and solutions for both homes and businesses in Southeast Asia.

The events drew approximately 270 media representatives and influencers from 23 countries, who engaged in hands-on experiences with Samsung’s AI appliances. These experiences demonstrated how AI can function as a ‘Home Companion,’ alleviating household chores, optimizing energy use, and enhancing family life.

North America: Convenience Through AI Innovation

Held on April 15-16 in New Jersey, ‘The Brief New York’ highlighted AI features in kitchen appliances that simplify household tasks. Samsung demonstrated the ‘AI Vision’ feature in its Bespoke AI Refrigerator, which identifies food items and automatically updates a food inventory list. The ‘AI Pro Cooking’ feature in the Bespoke AI Oven was also presented, showcasing intelligent ingredient recognition and cooking optimization.

Europe: Energy Efficiency at the Forefront

‘The Brief Milan,’ held on April 21, focused on energy-efficient solutions designed for European consumers. Products like the ‘Bespoke AI Washer’ and ‘Bespoke AI Dishwasher’ offer significant energy savings against European benchmarks. Samsung also presented innovations such as the Extractor Induction Hob and ‘AI Precise Cooling’ in refrigerators, integrating energy efficiency with advanced AI technology.

Latin America: Unified AI Ecosystem Through SmartThings

In events held in São Paulo and Mexico City, Samsung spotlighted the integration of household appliances via SmartThings connectivity. This system enables consumers to manage and control appliances from a single platform, enhancing convenience in daily operations.

Southwest Asia: Personalization and Family-Oriented AI

On September 16 in Gurugram, India, Samsung emphasized AI technologies designed for local climates and family lifestyles. The ‘Motion Wind’ technology in its air conditioners and the ‘Family Care’ feature in kitchen appliances illustrate Samsung’s commitment to personalized and family-focused solutions.

Southeast Asia: Broadening Market Reach to Businesses

The final event in the series, held on October 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam, showcased Samsung’s diverse appliance offerings, including solutions for commercial environments. Emphasis was placed on the HVAC portfolio and AI-integrated features in residential appliances, enhancing both consumer and business solutions.

Samsung plans to continue expanding its AI appliance offerings, tailoring them to meet diverse regional needs and reinforcing its position in the global AI home appliance market.
