R-rated Dakota Johnson film accidentally played on every screen during flight

A long flight can be a drag, but picking the right movie can make the hours fly by. Unfortunately, passengers on Qantas flight QF59 from Sydney to Tokyo were left in a rather awkward situation when a technical glitch prevented them from choosing their own entertainment. Instead, they were treated to an unexpected viewing of Dakota Johnson’s R-rated film Daddio.

Initially, flight attendants tried to keep the movie choice a secret, but it was later revealed that passengers had to endure Daddio, which stars Johnson alongside Sean Penn. The film features themes around relationships, sex, and power dynamics, making it a questionable pick for an airplane audience, especially with younger passengers on board.

While Daddio isn’t as notorious as Fifty Shades of Grey, it still contains plenty of mature content, including strong language and brief graphic nudity. As the film progressed, flight crew members realized their mistake and quickly switched to a more family-friendly movie after complaints.

In response to the backlash, Qantas issued an apology, acknowledging that Daddio was not suitable for the flight. They stated, “The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight, and we sincerely apologize to customers for this experience.” They assured passengers that they returned to their standard practice of screening kid-friendly content once they recognized the error.

In an ironic twist, this mishap inadvertently made Madame Web, a film with a dismal 11% score on Rotten Tomatoes, look like a more appealing option compared to the explicit nature of Daddio. It seems that, in a bizarre turn of events, Qantas Airways managed to elevate a poorly received film to the status of a more acceptable viewing choice, all thanks to a technical blunder and an ill-timed R-rated screening.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of appropriate movie selections, especially in family-friendly environments like airplanes. Next time you’re on a flight, you might just find yourself hoping for the classic “choose your own adventure” approach to in-flight entertainment!
