Nicholas Galitzine Opens Up About His Sexuality After Starring in Queer Stories
Nicholas Galitzine has appeared in several queer narratives. According to reports, his personal life has been under attention due to his portrayal of LGBT characters in films such as Handsome Devil, Red, White & Royal Blue and Mary & George. In an interview with British GQ, Nicholas Galitzine revealed some of his personal preferences.
The actor said, “I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories,” Galitzine told British GQ. “I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt. At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.”
Nicholas also added, “I was a very scared young man. There’s this notion in masculinity that you have to be in control and certain of everything.”
Despite this, the actor has taken on roles that challenge traditional ideals of masculinity, such in his latest role as a young pop star in The Idea of You, in which he explores a complicated relationship with an older lady.
“I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt,” he said. “At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality,” he told Entertainment Tonight.
Galitzine also stated that the character he portrays is different from his identity.“I am Nick, and I’m not my role,” he explained.
