Netflix’s new holiday romp features a ‘Mean Girls’ reunion

Netflix is gearing up to sprinkle some holiday cheer with a dash of Mean Girls nostalgia in their upcoming Christmas comedy, Our Little Secret. The trailer has dropped, and fans of Lindsay Lohan are in for a treat!

This festive film promises its share of awkward family dynamics and comical misunderstandings. When Avery (played by Lohan) meets her boyfriend Cameron’s (Jon Rudnitsky) family, she finds herself in a tangled web of past romances. Logan (Ian Harding, known for his role as Ezra in Pretty Little Liars) is dating Cameron’s sister Cassie (Katie Baker), but here’s the twist: Logan and Avery used to date! Cue the holiday drama and potential romantic fireworks.

An all-star cast enhances the appeal, with Kristin Chenoweth stepping in as Cameron’s mom. She’s not too fond of Avery, especially after receiving a bottle of screwtop wine from her, which she wittily describes as “fast and easy.” Expect some hilarious banter between Chenoweth and Lohan, which will likely lead to a bonding moment over holiday baking by the end.

In a fun nod to Mean Girls, Tim Meadows joins the cast as Stan, a family friend. Fans are left wondering if he’ll bring the same comedic charm he did as Principal Duvall. Given his talent, it’s hard to believe he won’t deliver some laugh-out-loud moments!

While opinions on Lacey Chabert’s Netflix film Hot Frosty may vary, Our Little Secret seems to offer a more straightforward and enjoyable holiday narrative. With Lohan and Chenoweth’s comedic chemistry, this film promises to stand out from typical holiday fare, especially with two Mean Girls stars on board.

Lindsay Lohan is certainly making a comeback after taking a lengthy break from acting due to various personal issues. She kicked off her Netflix film era in 2022 with Falling For Christmas, followed by Irish Wish in March, and there’s also an upcoming sequel to Freaky Friday set for 2025. It’s safe to say she’s back in the game!

In a recent interview, Lohan expressed her desire to return to romantic comedies, particularly enjoying the physical comedy aspect. With classics like Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap in her portfolio, it’s clear this genre suits her perfectly. Her first Christmas film also holds a special appeal, especially given the impressive 31.2 million views Falling For Christmas garnered in just four days. It’s easy to see Our Little Secret following a similar path, and perhaps we’ll be treated to a new Lohan Christmas film every year.

Mark your calendars for November 27, 2024, when Our Little Secret drops on Netflix. Get ready for a blend of holiday awkwardness and romantic possibilities as we find out if Avery and Logan are destined to reconnect.
