After completing his film on Jesus Christ, filmmaker Martin Scorsese is reportedly preparing for a biopic about Frank Sinatra. According to a Variety report, Scorsese wants Jennifer Lawrence to play Frank Sinatra’s second wife, Ava Gardner, with Leonardo DiCaprio, the renowned singer-actor. Previously, the two appeared together on screen in the 2021 movie Don’t Look Up.

With his multifaceted career, Frank Sinatra—who died in 1998 at the age of 82—left an unforgettable mark on the 20th century. Sinatra’s legacy lives on, from his performances in movies such as The Manchurian Candidate (1962) to his iconic hits like My Way and New York, New York.

The singer’s personal life was as remarkable, with four marriages marking his romantic journey. Following his divorce from his first wife, Nancy Barbato, in 1951, Sinatra wedded actress Ava Gardner later that year. However, their relationship ended in divorce in 1957. Sinatra married Mia Farrow and then Barbara Marx, with whom he remained until his death.

Tina Sinatra, who controls Frank’s estate, has yet to approve the project, according to the report.

If the Sinatra biopic materialises, it will be DiCaprio and Scorsese’s 7th  collaboration. They previously worked on the Oscar-nominated Killers of the Flower Moon last year.

In an old interaction with Hindustan Times, the director opened up about his storied collaboration with DiCaprio. He said, “Bob (Robert DeNiro) told me I must work with this new kid. Turned out that Leo enjoyed the movies we made. I worked with Leo on Gangs of New York (2002), then we pushed it further in The Aviator (2004). On The Aviator, we learnt that there’s a 30-year age difference! But I found that we had a similar kind of sensibility that me and Bob had. We had a similar fearlessness, the will to try things, and ultimately, a very, very strong trust. We pushed each other to different limits. It’s a gift.”
