Mandisa, ‘American Idol’ Singer And Grammy Winner, Found Dead in Her Home
Mandisa, an American Idol star and Grammy Award winner, was found dead at the age of 47 in her Franklin, Tennessee, home. The death of Mandisa Lynn Hundley, who was born in Citrus Heights, California, was officially announced on Friday.
While the official cause of death was not immediately disclosed, the Franklin Police Department opened an investigation into the incidents surrounding her death.
Mandisa gained popularity in 2006 when she participated in American Idol’s 5th season, serenading viewers alongside winner Taylor Hicks.
She began her career in Christian music after her success on the show, releasing her debut album “True Beauty” in 2007.
In 2010, 2012 and 2014, Mandisa’s talent was acknowledged with numerous Grammy Awards in the categories of Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album, Contemporary Christian Music Album and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance.
Mandisa’s representative affirmed her demise in a statement posted on X. The statement reads, “We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
Williamson County and Davidson County Medical Examiners’ Offices have confirmed that the forensic testing has yet to be completed.
