The Royal Family’s popularity in the U.K. has seen a notable decline recently, with surprising shifts in public opinion. According to the latest Ipsos rankings, many members of the Royal Family have experienced drops in favorability since September, including Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, who had previously received a surge of support following her recovery from cancer treatment.
In the most recent rankings, Kate Middleton saw a slight dip in popularity, with her favorability dropping from 66% to 64%. This is a rare slip for her, as she had been widely admired following her health recovery. Despite this, she still holds a strong second place among the senior Royals. Her husband, Prince William, however, has managed to maintain a steady 65% favorability rating, making him the U.K.’s most popular royal at the moment.
In contrast, Queen Camilla experienced the most significant drop in favorability, falling from 41% to 35%, and King Charles lost five percentage points, with 51% of people now viewing him favorably. Princess Anne, despite a seven-point decline, still ranked third.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry saw a slight two-point increase in his favorability, reaching 30%, but remains far behind in seventh place. His wife, Meghan Markle, faced a continued decline, dropping to just 20%, still higher than Prince Andrew, who remains the least popular royal with only 10% favorability.
As the holidays approach, Kate may have plans to engage more with the public, which could potentially help her regain some of the popularity she’s lost in recent months. The fluctuating rankings reflect how the Royals’ public image continues to evolve, with some family members, like Prince William, staying relatively steady while others, like Prince Andrew, struggle with diminishing support.
