Keanu Reeves to Voice Shadow in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’
Keanu Reeves, well known for starring in action films such as The Matrix and the John Wick series, is ready to expand his roles by voicing the character Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
This announcement follows Paramount’s recent presentation at CinemaCon when attendees got an exclusive peek at Sonic 3. The sneak peek indicated that Dr Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, will return, although in a little out-of-shape state, after the events of Sonic 2. But when he introduces Shadow the Hedgehog—a figure who first appeared in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2—his luck changes.
As his name suggests, Shadow is a character with a darker side than the other characters, such as the red Knuckles the Echidna (Idris Elba), the blue Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) and the yellow Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey).
Prior to this, Reeves voiced several characters, including the titular kitten in the 2016 comedy Keanu by Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, the stuntman toy Duke Caboom in the 2019 film Toy Story 4, and Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in the 2022 film DC League of Super-Pets.
As per People, live-action actors James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Tom’s wife Maddie and Tom Butler as Commander Walters, along with director Jeff Fowler, are reprising their roles from the previous Sonic movies, except Jim Carrey.
