Ke Huy Quan is set to take center stage in his very first leading role in the upcoming film Love Hurts, and if the trailer is any indication, it promises to be a huge hit!
Following his Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, expectations are high for Quan’s latest project. The trailer showcases a thrilling mix of action and comedy, featuring Ariana DeBose, another Oscar winner, delivering a delightfully wicked performance, alongside the legendary Celine Dion, who provides the soundtrack with her classic hit “It’s All Coming Back to Me.”
In the trailer, we see Ke Huy Quan displaying some impressive stunt work while also bringing plenty of energy to his role. The film’s comedic script and fast-paced action hint at a fun, roller-coaster experience for viewers, all punctuated by Dion’s powerful vocals.
Love Hurts tells the story of a retired hitman whose past comes back to haunt him. Ke Huy Quan stars as Marvin Gable, a successful suburban realtor hiding a dark history. When he receives a mysterious red envelope labeled “Love Hurts,” he realizes that his past is catching up with him. Marvin’s sweet and mild-mannered exterior gets shattered when old troubles literally crash into his life.
Ariana DeBose plays Rose, Marvin’s former partner whom he thought was dead. After Rose double-crossed Marvin’s crime lord brother, Knuckles, he had betrayed his brother to help her escape. Years later, Knuckles is on Marvin’s trail, and Rose reappears, seeking revenge against Knuckles. However, to succeed, she needs Marvin to unleash his old ruthless side to help her take down their common enemy. Love Hurts is set to hit theaters on February 7, 2025.
This film marks Ke Huy Quan’s first leading role after his accolades from Everything Everywhere All at Once, where he won an Oscar, Golden Globe, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Notably, Quan is the first Vietnamese actor to win an Oscar and was recognized as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2023.
Joining him in this exciting venture is Daniel Wu, who plays his brother. Wu is a familiar face in both the Chinese film industry and American cinema, known for roles in Into the Badlands and Tomb Raider, among others.
The film features an impressive supporting cast, including Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, Andre Erikson, Sean Astin, and Cam Gigandet.
With its blend of action, humor, and a stellar cast, Love Hurts is shaping up to be a must-see film when it releases in early 2025!
