Julia Garner has recently joined the cast of The Fantastic Four, where she is set to play a key part in the highly anticipated film. According to Variety, she is set to portray Shalla-Bal, a version of the Marvel comic book character Silver Surfer.

The actress will appear in films starring Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing and Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.

The Silver Surfer first appeared in Fantastic Four No. 48 as the herald of Galactus, a planet-eating phenomenon; however, that version of the Surfer was an alien astronomer named Norrin Radd. Garner is said to be portraying a different surfer named Shalla-Bal, Norrin Radd’s love interest.

Julia Garner has gained huge acclaim, including three Primetime Emmy Awards, for her iconic role as Ruth Langmore in the hit Netflix series Ozark. Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is directing ‘Fantastic Four’ from a script written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer and Eric Pearson. Production on the movie will start this summer, with a release date of July 25, 2025. In 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Doug Jones played the character and Laurence Fishburne gave the voice.
