Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes to join cast of 28 Years Later sequel with Cillian Murphy; Report
The zombie movie “28 Days Later,” which was directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, is getting a sequel more than 20 years after its release.
Actors Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are now expected to join the cast of the highly anticipated movie, according to the most recent report from The Hollywood Reporter. According to the report, Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original movie, will also be joining the film series again after a 28-year.
Murphy was still new to the industry, but his performance gained him praise from critics and fans alike.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boyle and Garland will work together on all three of the 28 Years Later movies, making the film a trilogy. At the moment, the budget is set at $75 million USD. The original got a sequel in 2007, featuring Jeremy Renner, however Boyle and Garland only served as executive producers.
Murphy and Boyle recently disclosed that they have often sparked discussions regarding a sequel to this series on the occasion of the film’s 20th anniversary. Murphy said he thought he had outgrown the role and Boyle disclosed that Garland had written a script a few years ago, initially titled 28 Months Later, but it didn’t progress any further.
