Jenna Ortega’s upcoming film project has received an exciting update, with the title and plot details now revealed. Known for her role in Wednesday, Ortega will star in a psychological thriller titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, alongside Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan and musician The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
According to Deadline, the film, directed by Trey Edward Shults, will also serve as an extension of The Weeknd’s upcoming album of the same name. Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson praised Tesfaye’s creative vision, stating, “Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium.” He added that Hurry Up Tomorrow will be a unique cinematic experience, blending Tesfaye’s musical universe with the intensity of a psychological thriller.
In addition to Hurry Up Tomorrow, Ortega has been cast in The Gallerist, directed by Birds of Prey’s Cathy Yan and co-starring Natalie Portman. This new film is described as a dark comedy about an art gallery owner who tries to sell the work of a dead artist at Art Basel Miami.
Ortega is also returning to the Netflix series Wednesday for its highly anticipated second season, with production beginning in September. In a behind-the-scenes clip, Ortega playfully teased fans, saying, “If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed… and I’m not that generous.”
Hurry Up Tomorrow does not yet have a release date, but Wednesday season 2 is currently filming and will stream on Netflix.
