James Gunn confirms ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 has reached a major production milestone

Great news for Peacemaker fans! After a successful first season that captivated audiences with its quirky humor and the return of John Cena’s titular character, season 2 is officially on its way. James Gunn, who not only co-leads DC Studios but also directs the series, recently announced that filming for the second season has wrapped after 10 months of work. Naturally, he’s ready for a break after such a lengthy shoot.

The highly anticipated second season of Peacemaker is currently in post-production and is set to debut on July 11, 2025. Fans have already been given a sneak peek through a sizzle reel released by Max, which teases the return of the main characters and introduces a new player: Rick Flag Sr., portrayed by Frank Grillo. According to Gunn, Flag Sr. is a morally complex character, and Grillo’s portrayal is expected to bring depth and nuance to the role. Interestingly, this will mark Grillo’s second time playing this character, as he’ll also be voicing Flag Sr. in the upcoming animated series Creature Commandos, slated to release on December 5, 2024.

While it may be a while before Peacemaker season 2 hits screens, fans can revisit the first season on Max to catch up on the chaos and charm of the original series. The anticipation for the new season is high, and with Gunn’s involvement, it’s sure to deliver more action-packed, character-driven storytelling.
