In spite of helping PSG win the Ligue 1 title in 2022-23, Lionel Messi received criticism from fans in his final fixture for the French outfit. The Argentina captain was booed by fans before and during his team’s final Ligue 1 game against Clermont Foot 63 at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup champion received a lot of criticism from PSG fans, and this wasn’t the first time they booed him. Despite such fan misbehaviour, Messi received praise from former PSG and Barcelona teammate Neymar.

The Brazilian, who is also about to leave PSG, took to his Twitter account to bid farewell to Messi and share a few pics. “Brother… it didn’t turn out as we thought but we tried everything. It was a pleasure to share 2 more years with you. Good luck in your new stage and be happy. I love you”, the former Santos attacker wrote.

PSG fans have treated Neymar similarly and he has been linked to Manchester United and Manchester City. Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian.

In the meantime, Al Hilal, Inter Miami, FC Barcelona, Newcastle and Chelsea have all been linked to Messi. He was anticipated to join Barcelona at first, but the Catalans have yet to make a formal offer and have still to gain the green light from La Liga.
