How did Marvel get away with this egregiously naughty ‘Agatha All Along’ gag that you most likely missed?

In the thrilling sixth episode of Agatha All Along on Disney Plus, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe got to see Evan Peters reprise his role as Ralph Bohner. He originally appeared in 2021’s WandaVision, where his character was manipulated by Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness to pretend to be Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver and Wanda’s brother.

However, in Agatha All Along, Ralph Bohner is quite different from before. He appears disheveled, anxious, and scared as he shares important details about the Westview anomaly with Joe Locke’s character, Billy Maximoff, in exchange for some cash. But the episode had an even bigger surprise, thanks to a cheeky family joke involving Bohner.

During a scene where Billy is interrogating Agatha in her house (which is actually Ralph’s house in real life), Agatha wears a shirt that comes directly from Ralph’s wardrobe. This shirt features a humorous saying that many viewers might have missed.

So, what’s the joke? Agatha’s shirt reads “Bohner family reunion,” complete with a camping-themed design that says “pitch a tent.” This is a playful nod to the slang term “Bohner,” which refers to male arousal, and “pitch a tent” humorously depicts the physical reaction associated with it. It’s probably the most risqué joke in the MCU since a moment in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Tony Stark jokingly referred to Hulk and Black Widow playing “hide the zucchini.” It raises eyebrows how Marvel managed to slip this into a Disney Plus series!

Daniel Selon, the costume designer for Agatha All Along, shared on Instagram how they came up with the shirt. Kathryn Hahn, who plays Agatha, asked about the origins of her character’s clothing, considering that she had taken over Ralph’s house. They decided that during the interrogation scene, Agatha should wear something from Ralph’s closet. Selon imagined Ralph as the kind of guy who would have a graphic tee lying around, so they thought a camping-themed family reunion shirt would be perfect. After brainstorming some jokes, they created the graphic and went for it, questioning if they could really include a boner joke in a show centered on witches. Ultimately, the answer was a resounding yes!

Fans on social media had mixed reactions when a user shared the story about the shirt. Some loved the joke and even expressed interest in buying the shirt, which is available for purchase!

As Agatha All Along heads toward its final three episodes, it’s unclear whether there will be more spicy jokes like this one. We’re certainly hoping there are, as it adds a fun twist to the show and appeals to our not-so-mature sense of humor!
