George Clooney to Make Broadway Debut in ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’

George Clooney is set to embark on a new chapter in his career. The actor is preparing to make his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of his 2005 movie Good Night, and Good Luck, which portrays a journalist. As per Variety, the show will premiere on Broadway in New York in the spring of 2025.

Along with Grant Heslov, who co-wrote the screenplay of the movie, George wrote the Broadway play. The play will be directed by Tony winner David Cromer.

The actor, who starred as Fred W. Friendly in the film he directed, will now be playing Edward R. Murrow, a journalist. The part was first portrayed in the movie by actor David Strathairn.

In a statement, George stated, “I am honoured, after all these years, to be coming back to the stage and especially, to Broadway, the art form and the venue that every actor aspires to.”

David, who earned a Tony Award for his direction of The Band’s Visit, is excited to work with George on this project. He said, “Edward R. Murrow operated from a kind of moral clarity that feels vanishingly rare in today’s media landscape. There was an immediacy in those early live television broadcasts that today can only be effectively captured on stage, in front of a live audience.”
