For All Mankind is an American science fiction drama television series made for Apple TV+ by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. The series depicts “what would have happened if the global space race had never ended” after the Soviet Union achieves the first crewed Moon landing ahead of the United States. For All Mankind Season 4: Plot
The show depicts, in a different version of events, Soviet astronaut Alexei Leonov sets foot on the Moon for the first time in 1969. This result destroys NASA’s morale but also ignites a U.S. drive to catch up. The United States is compelled to keep up by providing training to women and minorities who were generally excluded from the earliest decades of U.S. space exploration because the Soviet Union highlighted diversity by adding a woman in future landings. The next three seasons all take place ten years later; season two is set in the 1980s, season three in the 1990s, and season four, as stated in the season three finale, is set in the 2000s.
Sergei Korolev was the founder of the Soviet space program; in the series, he passed away in 1966 while undergoing surgery in Moscow, as Ronald D. Moore revealed. And their Moon program never really came together after that. Our disagreement sprang from the fact that Korolev is still alive and was responsible for their Moon landing.
