In a candid interview with GQ, Johnson confirmed the long-standing gossip, saying, “Yeah. That happens.” This practice first gained attention when The Wrap reported on the chaos surrounding Johnson’s film Red One, a Christmas movie with a budget that spiraled due to alleged delays and Johnson’s tardiness.

The rumor initially emerged from an insider who claimed that when Johnson couldn’t make it to a bathroom on set, he would relieve himself into a Voss water bottle, leaving his team or a production assistant to dispose of it. Johnson himself had previously addressed this in 2021, revealing that he sometimes used bottles during intense gym workouts, joking that he would “break out the bottle” when nature called. A 2017 Instagram video even showed him peeing into a Voss bottle, saying, “I go hardcore when I train.”

While the bottle-peeing may seem quirky, it became a more controversial topic when it was linked to the set of Red One, where sources claimed Johnson’s chronic lateness contributed to budget overruns and production delays. He was allegedly arriving up to eight hours late, forcing the crew to work around him and resulting in a budget that ballooned by $250 million. The film’s release date was pushed from Christmas 2023 to November 2024, with insiders pointing to Johnson’s lack of punctuality as a significant factor.
