Coachella Music Festival Faces $28,000 Fine After Lana Del Rey’s Set Ends 13 Minutes Late

Coachella is facing a $28,000 fine after Lana Del Rey violated an important rule. A spokeswoman for the City of Indio informed TMZ that the Summertime Sadness singer set went over 13 minutes on Friday night, resulting in a hefty penalty. Although 13 minutes might not seem like a major problem, artists must follow strict performance time rules.

Due to an agreement with Goldenvoice, the event will be fined $20,000 for the first five minutes past curfew. Following that, an extra fee of $1,000 per minute is imposed. As per the outlet, the curfew is 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and midnight on Sundays. Coachella organizers were most likely relieved, given Del Rey’s concert was the only fine in the second weekend.

This year’s festival also differed from previous years in that arrests were down by 20% over the first weekend, while citations were down 43%. The outlet states that this difference is most likely due to lower ticket sales volume. Although this may be a short-term success for organisers, it might be a negative indication for Coachella’s future, given the low ticket sales.

Fans of Del Rey were thrilled with her performance, which included 19 of her global hit songs, despite the fact she violated the curfew. Camila Cabello also joined the 38-year-old singer, surprising everyone with a performance of her latest track, I LUV IT.
