Chilis employee is fired for dropping some harsh truths about the restaurant chain

A Chili’s employee has gone viral on TikTok after posting a video where they openly vent about customer requests and the working conditions at the restaurant. In the 59-second clip, Kat.maitre starts by saying, “I don’t care if I get fired because of this, there’s no way I would, but like, if any of my managers are watching this, keep scrolling.” From there, they proceed to list a series of grievances, including complaints about things like lemon in water (“Girl, this is a Chili’s. It’s not gonna make the water better and it’s not gonna make the cup clean”) and dirty bathrooms (“What isn’t? This is a Chili’s”).

The video quickly gained attention, with people flocking to the comments to share their own thoughts. Some agreed with Kat, finding the customer requests to be a bit ridiculous, like asking for a butterflied steak at Chili’s, while others were more puzzled by the complaints, like the lemon-water issue. One user pointed out that the bathroom comment didn’t sit well, asking why Chili’s couldn’t keep their bathrooms as clean as a gas station. Other viewers shared their own bizarre experiences working at Chili’s, including requests for a chickenless citrus avocado salad or a person wanting their salmon “charred” right before closing time.

Naturally, people started asking if Kat was fired for the video, leading them to post a follow-up video. In the second, shorter clip, Kat humorously admits, “I got fired for it. Um, my managers did not keep scrolling.” The reaction was a mix of sympathy and humor, with some calling Kat a “martyr of TRUTH” and others saying it was inevitable that the video would lead to their firing.

Despite the controversy, it seems Chili’s has a relatively solid customer satisfaction score—80 out of 100 in 2024, which is the highest it has been since 2007. So, maybe things aren’t as bad as Kat made them sound after all.
