Boardwalk Empire star Steve Buscemi rushed to the hospital following brutal NYC attack
Steve Buscemi was walking through Kips Bay in New York City when he was attacked by a man in broad daylight. The suspect approached the 66-year-old Brooklyn native and hit him in an unprovoked attack.
Buscemi was rushed to Bellevue Hospital after suffering swelling in his left eye and face. According to police, the offender fled and is still on the run.
Buscemi’s spokesperson informed the New York Post, “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.”
According to police, the attack happened on Wednesday, May 8, at about 11:48 a.m. A worker in the area who witnessed part of the attack stated, “I saw he was with a woman, and then through the corner of the window I saw him trip and fall backwards. He right away got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him.”
The woman, who identified as Nat, said, “It worries me for when we close because we close at 11 and it can get scary around that time.”
