Billie Eilish reacts to rumours claiming she shaded Taylor Swift
Billie Eilish is sick of being portrayed as the “Bad Guy.” The 22-year-old singer responded furiously to angry Taylor Swift fans, silencing them with her comments, which seemed to be “singling out” the Fearless singer.
On April 1, the singer doubled down on her prior criticism of the present trend of musicians producing several physical versions of the same album. Eilish recently spoke with Billboard about the environment and its connection to music and she revealed how she plans to make her vinyls more sustainable. She also commented on how “wasteful” it was “to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging.”
“It’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f–king 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more,” the singer added.
Swifties rushed to the internet as soon as the interview aired, accusing her of targeting Taylor in her remarks. Billie, who is continuously working for environmental concerns, did not mention any artists in her latest statement, but the Eras Tour star’s fans were not pleased with her “shady diss.”
A few days later, Eilish took to her Instagram stories and shared the link to the Billboard interview, putting an end to the internet feud. Her statement reads, “Okay so it would be awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what I said in that Billboard article.”
She also clarified that she “wasn’t singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues.” She ultimately used her own example, saying, “When it comes to variants, so many artists release them – including ME!” She also added, “The climate crisis is now and it’s about all of us being part of the problem and trying to do better sheesh.”
