Ben Affleck and Nicolas Cage causing havoc in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ alternate ending is everything

Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and Chris Evans’ Human Torch all made cameo appearances in Deadpool & Wolverine, which definitely made a lot of fans happy. But guess what? The film could have included even more surprises! If we didn’t have to worry about things like scheduling conflicts, budgets, or whether actors were available, this third installment might have been packed with even more thrilling nods to those beloved superhero films from the mid-2000s.

Originally, the showdown between Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Logan (Wolverine) was planned to take place in a much darker and moodier setting known as the Void instead of a bright street in the Fox universe, which is referred to as Earth-10005. They even had plans to feature the Others and some special guests that didn’t make it into the final version of the movie.

Thanks to visual artist Rodney Fuentebella, we got a glimpse of what the ending could have looked like. He recently shared some concept art on Instagram, giving us a sneak peek of a scene where Wade, Wolverine, Elektra, and Blade team up to fight an army of Deadpool variants, and guess who else could have joined the battle? None other than Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider! In his post, Fuentebella expressed just how “epic and awesome” he thought this scene could have been. Knowing how close we came to a dream team of Marvel characters really makes us feel a bit let down, especially considering how fantastic that would have been on the big screen.

One excited fan even said they “would have died on the spot” if this had happened in theaters! Maybe it’s a good thing those cameos didn’t make it in, or movie theaters across the country might have turned into ghost towns from all the shock.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard whispers of Ghost Rider possibly joining the crew. Ryan Reynolds had mentioned wanting Cage to be part of the movie, but sadly that didn’t happen. There had also been rumors about Ben Affleck’s Daredevil making an appearance, and it’s nice to finally see that there were indeed plans for it. In the end, the only reference to Affleck’s Daredevil in the film is a funny nod to his divorce from Jennifer Garner. Just imagine the jokes Reynolds could have made if Affleck had actually shown up—J.Lo would definitely have been brought up!

The good news is that Affleck and Cage might still have a chance to show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars is set to be even more ambitious than Deadpool 3 with its surprises, and having both actors back would really amp up the excitement. However, Affleck might be hesitant to dive back into superhero roles after his past experiences, while Cage, fresh off playing Superman in The Flash and starring in a live-action Spider-Man Noir series, would likely jump at the chance to don the Ghost Rider persona again.
