Barbra Streisand and Melissa McCarthy respond to Ozempic remark backlash

Barbra Streisand and Melissa McCarthy sparked a social media controversy after Streisand commented on McCarthy’s Instagram post. Her innocent comment intended to congratulate her co-star drew a wave of reactions from fans and followers. Now, both have responded to the unexpected controversy that upset fans.

McCarthy started the controversy when she posted images of herself at the Center Theatre Group’s annual gala, dressed stunningly in a mint outfit alongside choreographer Adam Shankman. However, Streisand’s comment under the photo raised eyebrows, as she directly asked McCarthy whether she had used Ozempic, a type 2 diabetic medicine, to get her slimmer appearance.

McCarthy’s fans saw the comment and responded in a variety of ways, from laughter to criticism, to Streisand, who quickly deleted it.

In reaction to the outrage, Streisand took to her Instagram Story to explain her intentions, claiming that she just intended to praise McCarthy on her beauty and had forgotten about the public glare of social media.

In the meanwhile, McCarthy handled the matter gracefully when she interacted with TMZ photographers, stating that she was a fan of Streisand and that there was no hatred between them. She later shared a heartwarming video with the caption  ‘for Barbara fan clubs only’.
