Liam Payne’s untimely death in Buenos Aires has sparked ongoing police investigations, with local authorities now conducting a second raid at the CasaSur Hotel, where he was staying before he passed. This recent operation, which took place on November 5, comes just weeks after the singer’s death on October 16, and sources confirmed to *Us Weekly* that city police are handling the matter under strict confidentiality, with details protected by a prosecutor’s order to keep the investigation under wraps.
In video footage released by *Frandula Show*, three officers can be seen leaving the hotel. They’re wearing identifiable blue vests and carrying various bags; one officer has a cardboard box and some other items, which he places in a police car’s trunk.
This new raid follows an earlier one on October 23, when investigators gathered evidence to determine which hotel staff members were working when Payne allegedly fell from his third-floor balcony. It’s believed that the “Teardrops” singer, who reportedly fell while unconscious after a drug overdose, may have obtained drugs from someone in the hotel. Law enforcement is seeking a hotel employee who might have provided him with narcotics shortly before his tragic accident.
During that first raid, police collected registration documents, digital records, and security camera footage from the hotel. Meanwhile, Payne’s father has traveled to Argentina to help facilitate his son’s funeral arrangements and assist with the ongoing investigation. The singer’s remains are still in Buenos Aires, pending repatriation to the UK.
For those who may not be aware, Liam Payne rose to fame as part of the popular boy band One Direction, alongside bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Payne originally traveled to Argentina with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, to attend Horan’s concert. After the concert, however, he extended his stay due to issues with travel documents needed to reach the U.S., where Cassidy resides. Cassidy returned to Florida shortly before Payne’s death, leaving him alone in Argentina at the time of his passing.
The late singer is survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, two older sisters, Ruth and Nicole, and his young son, Bear Grey, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole.
