Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh go head-to-head as they face the question every Marvel actor has come to fear

Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh have emerged as the year’s standout movie duo, hitting the promotional circuit for their new romance film, We Live in Time. However, their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) backgrounds have led to an inevitable and fun debate: who would win in a fight between Garfield’s Spider-Man and Pugh’s Yelena Belova?

During a recent game of Agree to Disagree on LADbible TV’s YouTube channel, the topic sparked a playful exchange between the two actors. Garfield was quick to assert that Spider-Man would emerge victorious in a fight. “Spider-Man would absolutely [win],” he stated nonchalantly, adding that there’s no realistic scenario where a fight between them could realistically happen. After all, Marvel has thrown Peter Parker against all sorts of bizarre opponents, making a showdown with Yelena seem quite feasible.

Pugh, however, didn’t back down easily. She argued that while her character may lack superpowers, she’s exceptionally skilled. “She has weapons,” Pugh pointed out, to which Garfield responded, “Spider-Man can have weapons if he wants.” Ultimately, the conversation lightened, and they both agreed that any potential confrontation would likely be a friendly wrestle, where the outcome wouldn’t truly matter.

While they might not be eager to see their MCU counterparts clash, fans are certainly interested. Their undeniable chemistry in We Live in Time leaves us wanting more scenes together. With both actors already part of the same franchise, many are hoping Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige might orchestrate a future collaboration.

What’s Next for Pugh and Garfield?

Florence Pugh is set to reprise her role as Yelena in Thunderbolts, which is scheduled for release in May next year after several delays. She will join an ensemble cast that includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky and David Harbour as her on-screen father, the Red Guardian, whom we met in Black Widow.

As for Andrew Garfield, rumors are swirling about his potential return to the Spider-Man role in the yet-to-be-titled Spider-Man 4. While it’s challenging to envision a scenario that could match the excitement generated by 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are certainly intrigued by the possibilities.

Many would love to see both characters join forces in the rumored Avengers: Doomsday, expected to debut in 2026. This installment might introduce dark multiversal versions of original Avengers, including Yelena’s late sister, Natasha, a reunion Pugh’s character would surely relish. Garfield’s Spider-Man could also play a vital role in assisting Tom Holland’s version as they tackle formidable foes, potentially including Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

For now, we’ll be enjoying Garfield and Pugh in We Live in Time, which opened nationwide on October 18. Their performances as Almut and Tobias showcase a captivating dynamic that leaves audiences eager for more!
