Eminem announces new single ‘Houdini’ ahead of album release; says, ‘I’m going to make my career disappear’
Eminem has confirmed that the first single from his forthcoming album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” “Houdini,” will be released this Friday, May 31, less than a month after he announced the album’s release.
In an Instagram post, the rapper FaceTimes magician David Blaine and requests “help with something.” “I was wondering, how far can we take this magic? “Can we do a stunt or something?” Em asks Blaine, who sips a glass of wine and then bites off its rim. “Well, for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear,” Em says, leaving the conversation.
Many users reacted to the post, one wrote, “Em can’t make his career disappear though !” Another wrote, “I don’t know whether to be sad or excited.”
Eminem has stated that his 12th studio album would be out this summer, but not much more is known about it. “Houdini” is the first offering the fans have gotten so far, accompanied by a short clip of the instrumental likely playing at the end conclusion of the Instagram post.
While Eminem has kept the details of his next album, “The Death of Slim Shady,” under wraps, his mentor and longtime collaborator, Dr. Dre, released some information early this year. When Dr. Dre showed up on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in March, he revealed that Eminem was working on a new record. He revealed that he was involved in many songs on the project and that the day after his TV appearance, he planned to listen to the album for the first time.
