Jimmy Kimmel son Billy has heart surgery, comedian reveals
Billy, the 7-year-old son of Jimmy Kimmel, recently underwent his third open heart surgery. The talk show host said during the show on Memorial Day that his child needed a new valve and that the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles medical staff had successfully replaced it.
Kimmel shared his happiness and gratitude in an Instagram post, which included an image of Billy grinning in his hospital bed.
Sharing the pic, he penned, “We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid.” He added, “Walking around this hospital, meeting parents at their most vulnerable, children in pain and the miracle workers who do everything in their considerable power to save them is a humbling experience.”
Kimmel expressed gratitude “to those loving strangers who took time to pray for and send positive energy to our baby, thanks to our family and friends for rallying around us to an almost-ridiculous extent.” He also hailed his wife, Molly McNearney, for her strength.
Kimmel stated on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in May 2017 that Billy was born with a heart problem that required urgent surgery. Kimmel recalled, “The operation was a success. It was the longest three hours of my life — but it was a success.”
