James Gunn Shares First Look At David Corenswet’s Superman In Full Costume
James Gunn and star David Corenswet have recently shared the first look at the new Man of Steel outfit, and the comic-accurate S curl has returned. The last time we saw the S curl in a live-action film was during Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, when Batman was absolutely dominating Superman.
With the caption, “Get ready. #SuperMan,” Gunn shared the first glimpse of Corenswet in a cape in a live-action photo last night on social media.
The famous trunks have returned! The underwear-over-tights features known as trunks have been a popular topic among comic book readers. They originated from the strongmen of the 1930s and have stuck as a nod to Superman’s heritage.
While some consider them important to Superman’s appearance, others believe they are out of date. Gunn’s decision to bring back the trunks marks a return to the traditional and changing Snyder Era.
The cast for ‘Superman’ is outstanding, with Rachel Brosnahan as the intrepid reporter Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as the evil Lex Luthor and Skyler Gisondo as the photographer Jimmy Olsen.
The forthcoming movie also features Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Nathan Fillion as the Earth-based Green Lantern. The cast includes Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica and Wendell Pierce as Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White.
