Lord of the Rings, Titanic actor Bernard Hill dies at 79

Bernard Hill, 79, a famous English actor recognized for his performances in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and ‘Titanic,’ passed away.

Barbara Dickson confirmed the news on X (previously Twitter), expressing her sorrow: “It’s with great sadness that I note the death of Bernard Hill. We worked together in John Paul George Ringo and Bert, Willy Russell’s marvelous show 1974-1975. A truly remarkable actor. It was an honor to have crossed paths with him. RIP Benny x (sic).”

Following Hill’s death, fans gathered to pay tribute to his talent. Many praised his flexibility, acknowledging his ability to easily move from portraying dramatic historical figures and intricate characters like Yosser Hughes, the working-class lead in the British miniseries ‘Boys from the Blackstuff.’

Hill’s iconic portrayal of King Theoden, the conflicted yey loyal ruler of Rohan in ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ captivated viewers worldwide.
